CHICOPEE – Lillian G. (Guerin) Smith, 89, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. She passed into Eternal Life at Pioneer Valley Health and Rehabilitation in South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Easthampton on November 4, 1934, a beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Morin) Guerin. She was raised and educated in Chicopee and had lived in Chicopee her entire life. She was a loving homemaker to her husband and children and enjoyed cooking, playing bingo and trying her luck at the casinos during her leisure time. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Eugene C. Smith, Sr. They were married on October 9, 1956 in Enfield, CT and were blessed with over 67 years of happiness together. She also leaves her four loving children, Linda M. Zalinskie and her husband, Raymond, of Hooksett, NH, Eugene C. Smith, Jr. of Westfield, Larry E. Smith of Holyoke and Lisa A. Rubner of Wilbraham; her cherished 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; her dear brother, Normand Guerin of Millers Falls; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her dear brother, George A. Guerin; her dear sister, Yvette R. Boulerice; and her dear sister in law, Maryann Guerin. Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
