Claude Jacques Carlier of Chepachet RI, entered eternal life on December 5, 2023. His unshakable faith, strength and the love of his family was the motto of his life. Claude was the beloved husband of Jacqueline (Durbec) Carlier.
He was born in 1930 in Reims, France, the son of the late Paul and Madeleine Carlier. He was the brother of Christian Carlier of Central Falls, RI and the late William and Andre Carlier.
The love of his life was his family, his wife Jacqueline, his daughter Claudine Carlier, his late son Jack Carlier, his son Thierry Delos, his son and daughter-in-law Lionel and Nicole Delos and Jane Carlier. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Crystal Ward (Matt), Celine Carlier (Jennifer), Cynthia Carlier, Daniel Carlier, Shelby Robertson (David), Savanna Delos (Jake), Remi Delos, Gabrielle Delos ( Michael), and Renee Delos, his great grandchildren, Madison, Laci (Elijah) and Jaydon, his brother in law Albert Durbec of France, his sister in law and brother in law Marie Claire & Pierre Delos of North Providence, and his sister in law Agnes Breard of France. Claude also leaves many beloved nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces of RI, Florida and France, as well as his close friends of Vermont, RI and Florida.
Claude owned a body shop "Carlier Auto body" in North Attleboro MA for over 29 years and had worked on aircraft fabrication at Hlspano Suisa in France. He served in the Elite Mountain Infantry Force of the French army (Chasseurs Alpin) for the occupation of Austria after World War Two. He practiced trench boxing for which he qualified for the title of Second best of France in 1949. A devout Catholic, Claude was a member of St Philip Parish in Greenville and the People of God's love, which had the most impact in his spiritual life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, December 9, at 10:00 AM at St Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville, RI. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, December 8th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Anderson Winfield Funeral Home, 2 Church Street, Greenville RI.
