Susan Hutchinson Saye, 83, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. John Hughes officiating. Mrs. Saye will be laid to rest at Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 16, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Born August 27, 1940, in Atlanta, Mrs. Saye was the daughter of the late John Champion Hutchinson and Elizabeth Coleman Hutchinson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Edward “Lee” Saye, Jr., who passed away on October 20, 2022; and two sisters, Nancy Fraser and Katherine Hutchinson.
Mrs. Saye was an artist and served on the Tifton Arts Council. She was also a member of the Tifton Woman’s Club; the Tifton Garden Club; and the Newcomer’s Club. She was active in the Tift Theatre for Performing Arts, and she was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Saye is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patsy Saye Howard and her husband Chip of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Amanda Saye of Tifton; three grandchildren, Katherine Howard LeRoy, Phoebe Saye and Griffin Saye; one great-granddaughter, Lydia LeRoy; and two cousins, Gail H. Chapman of Fleming Island, Florida and Zema H. Laird of Columbus.
