Lorraine B. (Saliba) Garfi passed away in Boston, MA with her loving family by her side, on Saturday evening, December 2, 2023. She was 89 years old and had suffered from Alzheimer's disease, but never lost her joyful spirit.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on January 15, 1934, she was the beloved daughter of the late Edward and Blanche (Marbot) Saliba. As a young woman, Lorraine began working in a textile factory in the Merrimack Valley and eventually went on to be a manager who lived and worked in Malaysia, El Salvador, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico. She remained in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico for nearly 40 years where she was a beloved neighbor, friend, and community member.
Generous, energetic, joyful, loving, and adventurous, Lorraine was quick to help others, and enjoyed gardening, cooking, the beach. and the holidays with family. Lorraine was a very kind and humorous woman who positively touched so many lives. She will be dearly missed.
Lorraine is survived by her loving daughter; Joelle Garfi of Brookline, sister; Judy and her husband James McQuade of Old Lyme, Connecticut, granddaughters; Sophia Celeste and Talia Jeanne Vos, both of Brookline and several nieces and nephews. She joins her daughter, Celeste Marie Garfi, and her siblings Norman Saliba, Olive Naffah, Mary Hoyt and Edward Saliba in heaven.
Her Funeral Service will be celebrated in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 12:30 pm. Visitation will be held in the funeral home, prior to the service, from 11-12:30 pm. Internment will be held in the United Lebanese Cemetery in Lawrence.
