Benny Richard Parker, 68, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 8, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joe Crews officiating. Mr. Parker will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born July 30, 1955, in Tifton, Mr. Parker was the son of the late Leymon Kenyon Parker and Bessie Marie Fender Parker. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Kenyon “Kenny” Parker; and one sister, Sandra Hill. He retired from the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany after 30+ years. He served in the United States Navy for 12+ years as an electrician’s mate.
After retiring, he enjoyed watching international cooking shows and Westerns. He loved traveling on his Harley and loved family get-togethers with his kids and grandkids. This past Thanksgiving was special to him to have his son, Shaun and his family back with him. He was of the Pentecostal faith; and he was a member of Lighthouse Harbor Worship Center in Tifton.
Mr. Parker is survived by his wife, Felicia Simmons Parker of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Shaun Michael and Christy Parker and Jonathan Michael and Natalie Greer, all of Tifton; two daughters, Kari Frances Parker of Houston, Texas and Jennifer Renee Greer of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Billy Hall of Tifton; four grandchildren, Rachel Marie Hughes, Joseph Lee Blackwell, Shea Dene Parker and Eleanor Mae Greer; a sister-in-law, Caroline Parker of Alma; and a brother-in-law, Don Hill of Deland, Florida.
