Obituary

LACONIA ---- Frances Roma Bossey, 88, formerly of New Hope Drive, Laconia, NH, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 3, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Fran was born in Laconia on February 10, 1935, to the late Francis J. Parent and Floris E. (Chamberlain) Parent. Fran spent her early years in Belmont and Sanbornton, graduating from Tilton-Northfield High School, later earning her degree in Early Childhood Education at Keene State College. She then met the love of her life, Donald Bossey, whom she married in 1956, a love story that lasted 66 beautiful years, until Don’s passing in November of 2022.

Fran taught kindergarten at Top O’ The Hill Kindergarten in Belmont, NH. She was especially delighted when the children of her former students also became her students. They all held a special place in her heart, and she remembered and loved all of them.

After her retirement, she continued her love of teaching by substituting and volunteering at Holy Trinity School in Laconia.

Fran was very dedicated to her Faith and parish. She taught CCD for several decades at Our Lady of the Lakes Church and Sacred Heart Church. She served as president of the Ladies Guild, Eucharistic Minister, and taught Vacation Bible School. We are certain that she’s been forgiven for her habitual tardiness to Sunday morning Mass, as punctuality was one of her very few weaknesses.

Fran was an incredible mother to her five children, and the best Grammy and Great-Grammy any child could ask for. She was generous, kind, honest, and always thinking of others. Fran was known to quietly help less fortunate families by collecting items that she would then donate to those in need, often adding her own contributions to help. Fran and Don had a wonderful life together, enjoying many great vacations and camping adventures, gardening, snowmobiling, and roller skating, but their most-loved pastime was being with their family. After retiring, they could be found traveling the roads of NH, with no particular destination, to find a Dunkin’ Donuts and share a coffee and doughnut.

Frances is survived by her sons, Donald Bossey, Jr. of Laconia; Ronald Bossey (Chriss) of Florida; Norman Bossey (Kathleen Casey) of Laconia; Timothy Bossey (Deborah) of Gilmanton; and daughter, Tammy McKenzie (John) of Gilford. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Donald and Dustin Bossey; Brooke Jones; Tyler Bossey; Kelly Hecita; Kristen Seager; Craig Jones; Meagan and Logan Bossey; Jasmine Sallies; and Aidan and Heather McKenzie; her great-grandchildren: Arianna; Maddox; Harper; Wyatt; Paxton; Camden; Vivienne; Tatum; Oaklynn; and Baby Jones, due this April. She is survived by siblings Anita Parent of Oregon, Christine Hawthorne of Meredith, and Harold Bisson of Belmont. She was predeceased by her sister Raylene Recce of Gilford, NH.
Fran’s family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Forestview Manor for the loving care and dignity bestowed upon their mother in her final months.
