Katherine D. Cappadona, 97

Katherine D. (Renzella) Cappadona, age 97, a resident of the Village at Willow Crossings in Mansfield, passed away peacefully, in the presence of her loving family on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Cappadona, to whom she was wed for seventy-four years at the time of his death on February 1, 2019.
Born in Boston, MA on April 4, 1926 she was a loving daughter of the late Antonio and Josephine (Rando) Renzella.
She grew up in the Roslindale neighborhood of Boston and was a 1943 graduate of Roslindale High School. Mrs. Cappadona was the loving matriach to her immediate and extended family and prior to retiring had a career in banking that span thirty-six years. She began her job in banking at Newton Waltham Bank & Trust in Newtonville, retiring as a Customer Service Representative while the bank operated under the name of Bank of America. Throughout the years, Katherine was a trusted adviser and go to person for many clients at the Newtonville Bank.
A resident of Mansfield for the past sixteen years, Katherine formerly lived in Newton and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Newton Centre. Her hobbies included sewing, playing cards, socializing and especially traveling with her late husband and sisters. Katherine will be fondly remembered as a woman who was ahead of her times and an equal partner with her late husband Joseph.
She is survived by her devoted children: Joseph A. Cappadona and his wife Candy of South Yarmouth, Mary Lou Grella and her husband Robert of Easton, Barbara A. Cappadona and her husband Gary Fisher of Fairhaven, Thomas P. Cappadona and his wife Suzanne of North Attleboro, Peter Cappadona and his wife Sandy of Foxboro and John R. Cappadona and his wife Kelly of Northborough. She was the cherished grandmother of P.J., Katie, Annie, Julianne, Jack, Courtney, Michael, Joe, Elizabeth and Maura and the great grandmother of Thomas, Jack, Peter, Cory, Jake and Josie She was pre-deceased by her dear sisters and brother-in-laws Anna Taranto and her husband Angelo, Yolanda Santamaria and her husband Stephen and Mafalda Fasano and her husband Frank. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 12th at 10:30 A.M. in Sacred Heart Church, 1317 Centre St., Newton Centre. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 11th from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
