Obituary

Jody Miner, 53, of Baldwin, Maine, passed away on December 2, 2023 after an acute illness. Jody was born on December 11, 1969 in Westbrook, Maine to Sandra and Frederick Miner of
Baldwin, Maine.

Jody loved the outdoors. He spent much of his time four-wheeling, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing with family and friends. One particular annual tradition he enjoyed was ice fishing on Hancock Pond starting at mid-night on the first day of the new year. Other traditions including hunting in the woods behind the family’s mill. He and his brothers, father, grandfather and cousins have lots of hunting memories they have shared over the years. We occasionally needed to find Jody after a particular hunt as he might have been directionally challenged :). Jody also loved competing in the mud runs with his truck at Hunnewell Valley.

He played soccer for Sacopee Valley High School. After his team won the Class B State Championship his senior year, he went on to graduate and attend SMTC where he studied to be a machinist. Once he graduated, he went to work at Miner Machine in Baldwin and later worked at Famco and Sons, which he eventually ended up owning. For the last several years, he has worked as a commercial truck driver. A skill he earned while working at Famco. He also loved working with his portable saw mill, and was cutting lumber whenever he had a chance.

More than his love for the outdoors, Jody truly loved his family. He enjoyed taking his children boating on Sebago Lake and snowmobiling on the trails behind the mill to watch and feed the deer. He always looked forward to Easter at the clambake and going to the beach, and ice skating parties on the mill pond every New Year’s Eve He was involved in everything his children were doing and was very proud of their accomplishments. He felt very lucky to have such a loving family. He had an infectious laugh that would light up a room, gave the biggest hug and enjoyed joking with people. Jody was the epitome of “gentle giant”. He had a huge heart and would do anything for anybody. It did not matter what he was doing, he would drop everything to help anyone in need. He will be missed by many.

Jody was predeceased by his grandparents Lester and Alice Wood, as well as his
mother Sandra Miner. He is survived by his daughter Alexa Markezich, her husband
Timothy Markezich, and their son, Jody's grandson, Xander; his son Travis and fiancé Torrie Gray; his father Frederick Miner; his brother Kevin Miner and his wife Sandra; his brother Dale Miner and his wife Jenn; and his girlfriend Ellen Marshall.
