Obituary

Porter- Stella C. Beleckis (Mrs. B) of Porter passed away peacefully at home on November 30th, she was 85.

Stella was born in Clair, NB, Canada to the late Albany and Gertrude Long. She enjoyed cooking, singing, cuddling with her cat Misty, and going to the ocean. She loved her family, friends and community dearly.

For 47 years Stella was a school bus driver and drove the same route in Porter. During that time, she carried generations to school and home, safely and compassionately. Frequently she was seen dressed up for different holidays as she drove and giving gifts to her precious passengers, with her signature wave as she passed by those that she knew. She took any chance she could to transport athletes to the Special Olympics and summer programs where she would cheer them on and celebrate their victories. Stella considered her fellow drivers to be her second family.

She was a fixture of the community and if they weren’t enjoying their time on Stanley Pond teaching their grandchildren to swim along with countless other life lessons. Her and her late husband, Arnold could often be spotted enjoying Stella's favorite seafood at Bay Haven in Cornish, where for many years, they would bring their family and made countless memories. Stella continued this tradition after Arnold's passing.

She enjoyed many trips to visit her late sister “Lou” and Lou’s husband, Stan, in New Jersey where she would visit with their family, Linda, Ted and Jordan. Coming home only to have the greatest time and fond memories.

Stella was predeceased by her loving husband, Arnold, and her son Walter. She is survived by her grandsons Hunter Beleckis and Joshua Emmons, granddaughter Chelsea Kiger, great-grandson Daniel Emmons, daughter Celeste Emmons, sister Doreen Lavoie and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life is being held on Sunday December 17th from 1 to 4pm at Bay Haven in Cornish.
