Obituary

Lankford Eugene “Big Daddy” Aycock, Sr, 82, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, December 4, 2023, at his residence surrounded by loved ones.

Memorial services will be held 2 PM, Friday, December 8, 2023, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Chuck Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.

Mr. Aycock was born August 29, 1941, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late James Irwin & Juanita Estelle Roberts Aycock. Mr. Aycock ran a milk route for his first job and also worked as a butcher, at a gas station, was a contractor in highway construction, and a mechanic. He was most proud of his time as a professional truck driver. Mr. Aycock was known to many as a professional helper for Santa Claus. He was a man of many trades who’s greatest legacy was the love he had for his family. He was a member of Englewood Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Mildred Lee Harrison Aycock; children: Lankford “Eugene” Aycock, Jr. & Elaine and Teresa Peacock & Wallace, all of Fitzgerald, Jim Aycock & Beth and Tammy Roberts & D. J. Lee, all of Irwinville, Sara Beard, Ralph Jowers, Jr. & Mary, Wendy Gray & Rondy and Billy Jowers & Patty, all of Fitzgerald; 25 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers: James Irwin Aycock, Jr. of Wildwood, Florida, John Aycock & Nancy of Elmira, New York, Joe Aycock & Sandra of Live Oak, Florida and Jay Aycock & Sheila of Warner Robins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jesse James Harrell; a brother, Jerry Wayne Aycock and sister, Juanita Estelle Axemacher.

Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald, is in charge of arrangements.
