David John Picher died peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at home in New York City at the age of 63, following a week-long battle with influenza. David was born on September 2, 1960 in Winooski, VT to Jeannine and Robert Picher. He graduated from Rice High School in 1978 and the University of Vermont in 1982. After moving to Boston, he married Suzanne North of Grosse Ile, MI, with whom he shares his three children. David dedicated a 40-year career to the finance industry.

David was deeply passionate about sports, whether it was spectating, coaching, or partaking. As a die-hard fan of the New York Yankees and Montreal Canadiens, he was always saying “this is our year” and was extremely proud to raise his three children as fans as well. He coached all three kids in various sports: a pastime that he told stories about for years to come. David found great joy playing paddle tennis, pond hockey (shinny, for any fellow Canadians out there), golf, and ping pong with family and friends.

If you knew David, you knew his energy. Whether he was pacing while telling a story or encouraging the group to do more “activities,” David was always happy to be moving and living life to the fullest.

David is survived by his father Robert Picher, Sr. of Winooski, VT; mother of his children Suzanne (North) Picher of Wellesley, MA; brothers Robert Picher, Jr. (Mary DiLorenzo) of Venice, FL and Thomas Picher, Sr. (Julie Hanson) of Wellesley, MA; and children Christopher (and fiancée Caitlin Watson of Hingham, MA), Madeleine, and Luke of Wellesley, MA. He is preceded in death by his mother Jeannine Picher and sister Louise Picher both of Winooski, VT.

Visitation will be held at George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. Wellesley, MA on Wednesday, December 6, from 4pm-7pm. The funeral Mass will be at St. John the Evangelist Church in Wellesley, MA on Thursday, December 7, at 10am. All are welcome to attend and celebrate David’s life. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
