Doris Mae (Pleasant) Dennis

Doris Mae (Pleasant) Dennis, 94, of Anderson passed away on November 28, 2023 at Bethany Pointe Health Campus following an extended illness.
She was born on August 29, 1929 in New Castle to the late Charles Clyde and Gertrude (Wesley) Pleasant. She graduated from New Castle High School in the class of 1947 and went on to Ball State University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education and her Master’s degree.
She taught in New Castle Community Schools in elementary education primarily 3rd-6th grades for 38 years.
She is survived by her stepson, Greg (Colleen) Dennis; a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Dennis; three grandchildren, Tyler(Erica) Dennis, Jessica Dennis, and Matthew (Shannon) Dennis; three great-grandchildren, Lily, Ella, and Charles; a niece, Brenda Baier; a nephew, Charles Edward (Gloria) Pleasant II; a great-nephew, Mitchell Baier; special friend, Kay (Jack) Grant.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin Gleason Dennis on March 14, 2012; a son, Douglas Dennis; a grandson, Christopher Dennis; a sister, Venita Berry; and a brother, Charles Edward Pleasant.
A graveside service will be at 12:00 pm on Friday, December 8, 2023 at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle with Dr. Tobby Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Children of Promise.
