Obituary

Kevin Bruce Swimm, of Middleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2023 surrounded by loved ones, just days before his 70th birthday. Born on December 6, 1953, in Chelsea, MA, Kevin was the son of the late Barbara and Francis Swimm.

Kevin was a kind and loving man who touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by his surviving family members, including his beloved cat Rocky, and children, Courtney Kamborian and her husband Kristopher, Nicole Swimm and her husband Matt Emschweiler, and son James Mastrorilli, all of Quincy. He is also survived by his siblings Kenneth Swimm, Robert and Joan Swimm, and Kathy Swimm, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

A passionate college football fan, Kevin was an unwavering supporter of the Boston College Eagles. He was also a big New England sports fan and had no problem letting everyone know when he fully supported them, and when they weren’t doing well. Proud of his tenure at the Fore River Shipyard, he enjoyed sharing stories from his softball-playing days and of the Fore River educational classes he was part of. His career in construction, notably contributing to the "Big Dig," was a source of pride.

He enjoyed fishing, and he would frequently visit the Herring Run. Kevin relocated to Middleboro years ago and embraced the town as his new home. He was a proud supporter of the community, and enjoyed the many events the town offered. While in Middleboro, he made many friends that gave him a new spin on life. His family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Middleboro community for welcoming him, and giving him some of his fondest memories.

Kevin enjoyed great food – especially the 2lb baked stuffed lobster from Bay Pointe in Quincy. As his tastes evolved with age, he consistently enjoyed a home cooked meal, specifically meatloaf and mashed potatoes. His family finds comfort in knowing that this was his final meal before his transition.

A celebration of Kevin's life, marked by good food, music, and shared memories, will be organized at a later date, welcoming all who wish to honor his memory. The family expresses special gratitude to the town of Middleboro and Beth Israel Hospital Plymouth for their consistent, compassionate care of Kevin. In remembrance of Kevin’s life, a memorial bench will be placed in Middleboro, the town he held dear.
