GREENBUSH, MAINE — Amy Jean (Kempskie) Calnan, 65, of Greenbush, Maine, passed away on Nov. 9, 2023, after a short and intense battle with cancer. Amy was always full of energy and accepted everyone for who they were. She always encouraged her children to follow the beat of their own drum.
Amy is survived by her three children, Melissa Smith, 40, of Tampa, FL, Matthew Calnan, 36, of Camden, ME and Kristen Koenig, 32, of Rockland, ME. She is also survived by her boyfriend, Mark Patti of Greenbush; her mother, Jane Kempskie of Worcester, MA; and her siblings, Kurt Kempskie, Karen Kempskie-Aquino, Cathy Powers, Thomas Kempskie, James Kempskie and Christine Kempskie, all from Massachusetts. Amy was previously widowed twice by Richard Calnan Jr. in 2002 and Eddy Spencer in 2011, and was predeceased by her father Eugene W. Kempskie, Jr.
Amy held various jobs throughout her life, including working as a gas station and deli clerk, in retail sales and serving. She found joy in spending time with her grandkids and walking the wooded trails near her home. Gardening, growing vegetables and flowers, was also one of her favorite hobbies.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday Dec. 17, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Alfred Roy and Sons Funeral Home at 12 Hammond Street, Worcester, MA. A celebration of Amy's life will be held in Maine in the spring of 2024. The time, date, and location will be determined at a later time.
