Obituary

WINTER PARK, FLORIDA ---- Joan Marie Malin, 91, of Winter Park, Florida and Gilford, New Hampshire passed peacefully and transitioned to eternal life with our Lord on Saturday, November 18, 2023. She was born in Somerville, Massachusetts on November 1, 1932.

She was married to Donald, whom she met at the age of 15, her high school sweetheart, on May 11, 1952 in Somerville, Massachusetts. They were happily married for 62 years until his death in May of 2014. They raised their family in Littleton, MA before moving to Winter Park, FL in 1974 for his job with Raytheon. She worked her early years in the banking business and retail trade until they had their family and she was invested in being a devoted wife and loving and special mom to her four children.

She cared for several foster and Catholic charities children. She was generous to many charitable organizations and sponsored children throughout the world. Helping others was always a priority to her. She was a devoted communicant of the Catholic Church. She received all of the sacraments and her entire education from St. Joseph's Church in Union Square in Sommerville, Massachusetts.

She was survived by her four children, Edward and his wife Bonnie Malin of Gilford, NH, Nancy Henry of Daytona Beach, FL, Paul Malin and William Malin of Winter Park, FL and two grandsons, Ryan and Sean Henry. She was predeceased by her parents Agnes and Edward Downey and two brothers Thomas and Edward and her husband Donald Malin.

Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 6:00pm-8:00pm in the Carriage House at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Andre Bessette Parish - Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia, N.H.

Burial will follow the mass at 12:00pm at the New Hampshire State Veteran’s Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH.

Memorial donations may be made in Joan’s name to any of Joan’s charities including St. Vincent De Paul, veterans’ organizations, EWTN, Covenant House, or World Vision.
