Virginia (Luongo) Wilson, age 91 of Andover, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 29th at The Blaire House in Tewksbury, MA. Born and raised in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of Oresto and Amelia (Annacone) Luongo and the youngest of three sisters. She completed Girls High School in Boston, MA and started her career first, at State Street bank and then, for the registry of Motor Vehicles.
Virginia met the love of her life Donald O. Wilson when his naval ship was docked in Boston. They married two years later when he completed his service. They immediately moved into her parent’s home while they saved, before buying their first home in Medford, MA, where they lived and raised their family for 50 years.
Family was the most important thing to Virginia. She was the heart of her family and life of the party. Virginia was energetic, loving, and caring to all she knew; always at the center of all events and host of all family celebrations. She loved Sunday dinners, holidays, and summers full of swimming and backyard barbeques for the whole family. Donald and Virginia loved to travel, visiting: Italy, Alaska, Hawaii, Bermuda and St John’s, among many other places throughout the world.
Virginia was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 70 years, Donald, by just two weeks; as well as her two older sisters, Constance and Genevieve.
Virginia was the devoted mother of Donald Wilson Jr. and his wife Jane of Tewksbury, MA and Richard Wilson and his wife Laurie of Andover, MA. She was the loving grandmother of Marianne Wilkinson and her husband Tim, and Caitlin Shepard and her husband Bobby, all of Nashua, NH; Kerry Heher and her husband Curtis of Bedford, NH; Richard Wilson Jr. and his wife Alexis of Salem, NH; Brian Wilson of Philadelphia, PA; Kristen Chapman and her husband Zack of Haverhill, MA; and Jared Wilson of Andover, MA. Virginia was the loving great grandmother of Wyatt, Jake, Bennett, Harper, Summer, Hayden, Hadley and Sophie. She is also survived by many other loving friends and family.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours with family on Sunday, December 10th, from 2-6 PM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St, Medford. Virginia’s funeral will be held on Monday, December 11th at 9 AM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, MA at 10 AM. Funeral services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
