George E. Miller, age 92, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 1, 2023 at CareOne at Sharon. He was the beloved husband of the late Jean E. (Agnew) Miller, to whom he was wed for over sixty years at the time of her death on December 7, 2022
Born in Boston, MA on December 12, 1930, he was a loving son of the late Edwin and Priscilla Miller.
George grew up and was educated in Sharon. During the time of the Korean War, he proudly served his country for five years as a member of the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on June 26, 1953.
A resident of Mansfield for over sixty years, Mr. Miller was a retiree of the Foxboro Co., where he was employed for over twenty years as a Flow Meter Assembler. He had made his home in Mansfield for over sixty years.
George was an actively involved member of the Mansfield Council on Aging and was very proud of his affiliation with the organizations “Puddle Ducks”. He was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield and loved spending time in the presence of his adoring family. His hobbies included photography, a love for all forms of art and being an avid train enthusiast.
George’s family will always remember the wonderful times and memories created in Booth Bay Harbor, Maine and the simple pleasure George received when tinkering around his home.
He is survived by his devoted daughter Laura Carpenter and her husband Larry of Mansfield. He was the cherished grandfather of Patrick Carpenter and his wife Becca of Attleboro, Melissa Carpenter and her fiancé Patrick Minkin of Mansfield, Tommy Carpenter of Mansfield and the great grandfather of Corin Carpenter, Olivia Carpenter and Jacob Carpenter. He was the dear brother of Pamela Miller of Lummi Island, Washington State.
His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend will be held on Friday, December 8th at 1:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield. Burial, along with military honors, will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
An hour of visitation will be held prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 Noon.
In lieu of flowers, George’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the friends of the Mansfield Council on Aging, 255 Hope Street, Mansfield, MA 02048
