Obituary

Peter K. Skarbo, 81, of Westport, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at St. Anne's Hospital. He was the husband of Carol A. (Pettey) Skarbo with whom he shared 32 years of marriage.

Mr. Skarbo (“Pete”)was born in Seattle, WA and was the son of the late Rev. Martin K. and Lilly W. (Pedersen) Skarbo. He had resided in Westport for the last 6 years. He graduated from Castle Rock High School, Castle Rock, WA in 1961 and then attended the University of Puget Sound.

A 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, Pete served in the Submarine Service and was an instructor at the Trident Nuclear Submarine Great Lakes Training Center. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as a computer programmer for Alaska Option Services Corporation in Anchorage, AK. He started his own company E*T, Inc. (an electronic services company) and worked as an IT consultant supporting ATM and Point of Sale systems in the US, Italy, Mexico, and England from 1994 to 2012.

Survivors along with his wife include his son: Lance E. Skarbo of Prosser, WA; his daughter: Alicia D. Fox of Benton City, WA; his stepson: Matthew E. Ward of Haymarket, VA; and 8 grandchildren.

Pete’s lifelong passions were for boating and electronics. He generously used his technical proficiency to help family and friends resolve issues with their electronics and smart devices. Pete was a people lover; he treated strangers as friends he had not yet met. He enjoyed retaining contact with his beloved Gagner family and especially enjoyed times with his sister in-law Diane Finucci and his brother-in-law Bob Joncas. He loved living creatures and adored his pets.

A memorial event will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VFW Post 8502, PO Box 1498, Westport, MA 02790.
