Hellen Jane Sherrill Morse, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2023. She was surrounded by the love of her family and friends in Jamaica Plain. Hellen’s life was a rich tapestry woven with threads of love, resilience, and compassion. As a special education teacher and tutor, her impact on the lives of children who struggled to learn how to read and write was profound, leaving a lasting imprint on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to learn from her. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, generosity, and the genuine warmth she extended to everyone she met. Hellen is survived by her three sons from her first marriage and their families. David R. Morse and his wife, Melissa; Brian A. Morse and his wife, Jennifer; and Geoffrey A. G. Morse and his wife, Jennifer. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support will forever be remembered by her children and her four beloved grandchildren: Rebecca, Kevin, Geoffrey, and Delilah. Hellen took great delight in their accomplishments and cherished every moment spent with them. Born as the youngest of six siblings, Hellen also lives on the memories and hearts of her numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in Arkansas, Kentucky and Arizona. Hellen found love once again and was blessed with a second chance at happiness when she married Glenn Maynard. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. Glenn stood by her side with unwavering support, providing comfort and companionship throughout their journey together. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Jilana Maynard and her husband Welber, Justin Maynard and his wife Heather, Glenn Maynard, Jr., and Zachary Maynard and his wife Christina. In addition to her stepchildren, Hellen is lovingly remembered by her step-grandchildren Michael, William, Katharine, Daniel, Jae, Ivy, Zachary Jr., Aiden, and Conner, who brought joy and warmth to her heart. A memorial service to celebrate Hellen’s life will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery on May 4th 2024. May her soul rest in eternal peace and may the memories of her love and laughter bring solace to those who mourn her passing.
