Joan G. Colangeli (89), resident of Medford for over 65 years, formerly of East Boston, died on November 27th, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Joseph DiMinico of Melito, Italy and East Boston, MA, and the late Grace Giordano DiMinico of Hazelton, PA and East Boston, MA.
Joan was very active in Saint Joseph’s Parish and the Medford community. She was a member of the Saint Joseph Mother’s Club, volunteered for the Grenadiers Marching Band, was a Cub Scout and Webelos Den Mother and was an advocate for teaching instrumental music to the young.
Joan loved to dance with her husband Fred and their friends. Whether it was ballroom dancing at the Wonderland Ballroom in Revere, square dancing at a parish event or country line dancing at her favorite clubs, she looked forward to her dance nights. Joan was also an avid Bridge player and enjoyed playing Pokeno and board games with her mother and children.
Joan was the beloved wife of the late Ferdinando (Fred) Colangeli and the devoted mother of Grace Marie Cotton and her husband John of Windham, NH, the late Fred J Colangeli, Robert Colangeli and his wife Maria of Pembroke, William Colangeli and his wife Elaine of Westford, Rosemarie Davidson and her husband Edward of Medford, and David Colangeli of Medford. She was the sister of the late Henry DiMinico. She is survived by many loving grandchildren (11) and great grandchildren (5).
A private family service will take place in the Dello Russo Funeral home in Medford, MA.
