Obituary


Marie-Christine (Amara) Cardillo, a resident of Saugus, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, at age 72. Marie-Christine was born on February 6, 1951 in Boston, MA. Raised in Medford, she graduated from Simmons College where she also received her Master of Arts in Teaching, and spent over three decades as an elementary school teacher in the Medford Public Schools. In 2002, she married Carmine Cardillo, and they resided in Saugus.

Marie-Christine enjoyed hosting many gatherings with family including parties and holidays at her house in Saugus. She was an avid Boston sports fan, and enjoyed watching games nightly with Carmine. Marie-Christine and Carmine took many vacations together to destinations from New Hampshire to Europe, as well as multiple trips to Naples, Florida. She cared deeply for her nieces and nephews, with whom she celebrated many personal milestones. Generations of Medford Public School students will remember how she engaged them in learning while having fun in the classroom. After her retirement from elementary teaching, she continued to inspire students through teaching classes for several years at Northshore Community College.

Marie was the beloved wife of the late Carmine Cardillo. Daughter of the late Charles Amara and Frances (DiMare) Amara. Sister of Francine Eckley and her late husband Edwin, Loreen Romano and her husband Mark, and Frank Amara and his wife Elaine. Sister-in-law of Annette Luongo, Marie D'Eramo, Edward Cardillo, Jr. and the late William Cardillo. Aunt of Noelle Selin and her husband Henrik, Cristina Romano, Charles Amara and his wife Michele, John Amara and his wife Lisa, Robert Amara and his wife Caitlin, Peter Amara, Kristen Gerety and her husband Todd, Kimberly D'Eramo and her husband Mario, and David D'Eramo.

Funeral Services will be held from the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday, December 7th at 8:30 AM followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions May be made in Marie-Christine's memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via www.jimmyfund.org/gift
