Wilma Lee Smith Vaughn, 85, of Tifton, died Friday, June 30, 2006, at her residence. Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in Tift Memorial Gardens with burial to follow. Rev. Olin Hamlin and Rev. Paul Thomas will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be the Serenity Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church and the Joyful Sound Choir. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 1, 2006, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Vaughn was born on May 3, 1921 in Ware County and was the daughter of Joseph Ernest Smith and Margaret Elmina Jordan Smith, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse (Jake) P. Vaughn, Jr.; three brothers; and a son-in-law, Bill Shaw. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Tifton.
Ms. Vaughn is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Jimmie Darvin and Linda Vaughn of Tifton; two daughters and one son-in-law: Wilma Ellen and Michael Alsobrook of Tifton and Harriet Shaw of Tifton; one grandson, Russ Shaw and his wife, Michelle; two granddaughters, Lynn Priest and her husband, Jack, and Misty Lawson; and four great grandchildren, Ashley Shaw, Spencer Shaw, Dylan Humphries and Savannah Lee Humphries.
