Obituary

WEST SPRINGFIELD – James E. Malone, 73, of West Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, November 26, 2023. He passed peacefully into Eternal Life at Bear Mountain Health Care in West Springfield and now rejoins his parents, brothers and loving family. He was born in Holyoke on November 23, 1950, a beloved son of the late John P. Malone, Sr. and Dorothy M. (Dudley) Malone. He was raised in Granby, graduated from Granby High School with the class of 1968, and later lived in South Hadley for many years before moving to West Springfield. He received an Associate’s Degree from Grahm Junior College in Boston. He was employed as an optician at BJ’s Wholesale Club in Chicopee and Greenfield and had previously worked at J.C. Penney Optical at the Ingleside Mall in Holyoke. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed cheering on the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. Above all, he cherished his memories of time spent with family and his friends. He leaves his three loving children, Shannon Kopacz and her husband, Justin, of Blandford, Keelan Malone of Denver, CO and Casey Malone of Springfield; his seven cherished grandchildren; his cherished great granddaughter; his dear brother, Thomas M. Malone and his wife, Jane, of Vernon, CT; his dear sister in law, Theresa C. “Terry” Malone of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two dear brothers, John P. “Jack” Malone, Jr. who was Called Home on January 31, 1986 and Charles D. ‘Chuck” Malone who was Called Home on August 15, 2023. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Prayer Service on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Saint Rose Cemetery, 226 Granby Road, (Route 202), South Hadley, MA 01075, (please meet directly at the cemetery). There are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
