Matthew “Tyler” Barber, 27, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023, in Tifton. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Josh Bennett officiating. Tyler will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 30, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. Tyler’s service and burial will be done with his Papa, Shorty Barber.
Greg Hilton, Charles Hill, Shannon Luke, Matt Harten, Jamie Dove, Brandon Butler and Freddie Lee Roberts "Bean" will serve as pallbearers.
Born January 29, 1996, in Tifton, Tyler was the son of Betty Kathaleen Barber Johnson and Michael Paul Johnson of Tifton. He graduated from Tift County High School in 2014 and from the Tulsa Welding School in Jacksonville, Florida in 2015. He was employed with Machine and Tool Manufacturing in Adel and he had passion for motorcycles. He dearly loved his Granny and Papa and his dog, Cream.
Tyler was preceded in death by his grandfather, Coy Chester “Shorty” Barber, who passed away on November 27, 2023.
In addition to his parents, Tyler is survived by his grandmother, Ann Cross Barber; his uncle, Wesley Barber; his cousin, Grant Barber; his girlfriend, Kayla Saxton; and many friends that loved him.
