PORTER- Theresa E. Day, age 88, passed away on Nov. 26, 2023, in Westbrook.
She was born on Feb. 11, 1935, in Conway, NH, a daughter of the late Ernest and Blanche (Charest) Perreault and graduated from Fryeburg Academy.
Theresa was a very loving, caring, hardworking mother, wife, grandmother. She enjoyed seeing all of her customers as an Avon lady for the Baldwin area for over 30 years. Donald and Theresa raised their family at the Pierce Place in West Baldwin as caretakers for over 30 years as well. She spent countless hours sewing all of the clothing for her children and later her grandchildren. Every Christmas the daughter in laws would be blessed with new homemade potholders for our kitchens. After canning thousands of quarts of vegetables and cleaned every room in the Pierce Place until it shined, Theresa and Donald would spend their evenings and weekends working on their retirement home in Porter. She spent many hours lugging small rocks to make rock and concrete edging for all of the gardens at their home and constructed a large BBQ firepit for our Sunday family cookouts. Inside their home, there wasn't a space not utilized with constructed shelving made by Theresa and every piece of furniture was stripped, sanded and refinished with many tired hours, bleeding fingers, a few choice words, and a lot of love. Theresa loved going to dances, snowmobiling and going on vacation with their friends and family, Theresa always looked forward to the alumni banquet for Fryeburg Academy every year as well. Anyone that ever knew Theresa knew she had a huge love for frogs so her entire house was spotted with frog figurines, always a given as a gift for her!. She was very proud of all of her children and grandchildren and always bragged about all of them to anyone that lended an ear.
She is missed greatly by all her family and friends. She will always be in our hearts.
She is predeceased by her husband- Donald Day; and two siblings- Emile Perreault and George Charest.
Theresa is survived by her five children- Linda Bucknell and her husband David of Hiram, Michael Day and his wife Terry of Parsonsfield, Daniel Day and his wife Priscilla of Hiram, David Day of West Baldwin, and Craig Day of Hiram; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday Dec. 3rd from 11 AM – 1 PM, followed by a 1 PM funeral service at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., Cornish.
