Charles A. Scott, age 97, a longtime resident of Tewksbury, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at home.
He was the beloved husband of Dolores L. (Silva) Scott, who passed away on February 22, 2015.
Born in Somerville on August 31, 1926, he was the son of the late Kenneth F. Scott and the late Julia O. (Rosenquist) Scott.
In 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. He was awarded the American Area Medal and the World War II Victory Medal for his active-duty service.
Prior to his retirement, Charlie spent 38 years working for the United States Postal Service.
Charlie was very skilled in repairing woodwind instruments and brought his love of music into his household.
He and his wife Dolores enjoyed vacationing on the beaches of Maine and in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
Charlie is survived by three children: David C. Scott and his wife Kerry of Chelmsford, MA, Karen Gray and her husband Peter of Windham, NH and Brian Scott and his wife Karen of Nashua, NH; six grandchildren Laura (Scott) Nordengren and her husband Conor of Littleton, MA, Ellery (Scott) Colliton and her husband Patrick of Georgetown, MA, Julia Gray of Manchester, NH, Derek Gray of Windham, NH, Adam Scott of Nashua, NH and Ashley Scott of Manchester, NH; two great-grandchildren Rose Colliton and Walker Nordengren. Charlie is also survived by his brother Kenneth Scott of Tewksbury and many nieces. Charlie was predeceased by his brothers Ernest, Frederic, Robert and his sister Anna.
At Charlie’s request, services will be held privately.
