HOLLIS – Sally Louise Gilikson, age 82, passed away on November 25, 2023, at her home in Hollis after a slow decline due to heart issues.
Sally was born in South Berwick, Maine on July 14, 1941, a daughter of Robert Harland Quint and Gladys Troly Holt. After graduating from Berwick Academy, she forwent college in order to care for her ailing mother.
Sally married Francis Robert Emmons on March 1, 1962. Together they had four children.
On December 31, 1971, she married Philip Clifford Gilikson. Together they had one daughter.
Sally was a brilliant homemaker with a caring, curious nature, and always found great joy in spending time with her family. She loved meeting new people and enjoyed working in retail. For fifteen years, she was an usher at Sight and Sound Theatre in Pennsylvania before permanently retiring.
Sally was an avid reader and enjoyed stories set in rural settings and English countrysides. She had a passion for Colonial and Victorian times, finding delight and solace in pastoral life. She also had a great passion for Christmas, always making a beautiful setting to celebrate the season with her beloved family.
Sally had a deep and enduring lifelong Christian faith.
She was predeceased by her brother Edward Quint; brother George Howe; sister Joan Howe; her cherished son Glenn Henry Emmons; and her beloved stepson Philip Preston Gilikson.
Sally is survived by her loving husband Philip Clifford Gilikson; daughter Lyn Thurlow (and her husband Alan Thurlow); son Kevin Emmons (and wife Shannon Rooney), son David Emmons (and his wife Melissa Emmons); daughter Sonja Brunick (and her husband Scott Brunick); stepdaughters Deborah Gilikson and Janice Cotton; stepson Jeffery Gilikson; stepson Stephen Gilikson; sister Phyllis Haley; brother John Howe; brother Henry Howe; sister Lenora Burnham; sister Jane DiPaolo; former son-in-law Daniel Atkinson; former daughter-in-law Stephanie Emmons Knapp; nine grandchildren - Aaron, Hannah, Jeremy, Jonathan, Corey, Jacob, Paul, Chelsea, and Sarah; and ten great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:00am at Chad E. Poitras Cremation & Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road, Buxton. Burial will follow at South Buxton Cemetery. Online condolence messages can be submitted at www.mainefuneral.com.
