Obituary

James "Jimmy" Michael Sullivan, 70, of Boston, MA passed away peacefully on November 19, 2023 at Accent Care Hospice in Milton, MA surrounded by his loving family.

Jimmy battled his illness with incredible strength and bravery never giving up the fight. He exemplified the definition of determination and resolve to spend the time he had left with those he cherished the most. His final days were spent with family and friends. We celebrated one last Christmas, which was Jimmy’s favorite time of year. We shared memories, laughter, and tears. The love that filled the room was immeasurable.

James was born in the South End of Boston on August 24,1953 to John and Helen Sullivan. His childhood was filled with many adventures with his siblings. After graduating from the school of hard knocks, Jimmy enjoyed a career in painting. James married the love of his life, Patricia Brooks in 1974. Together they raised two beautiful daughters, Rachael and Paula. He was always so proud of his girls. Jimmy’s real pride and joy were his grandchildren Tyler, Sophia, Emma and Ryan. Any day with his grandchildren was a great day! One of his favorite adventures each year was our trip to the Greenway splash pad and carousel or floating around on the Swan Boats.

Jimmy was an incredibly talented painter, often sought out for his skill in complicated painting projects. Jimmy was employed at Costello Painting at Northeastern University working side by side with “Old Man Mike” and his son John. He eventually started his own successful painting business. He loved driving his family all over Boston and Provincetown to show off his work. In his later life, Jimmy moved to Provincetown to join his family at The Bradford House & Motel. When he wasn’t busy painting, he enjoyed cleaning, gardening, and days at the beach.

Jimmy was a lovable man. He was everyone’s favorite. Everybody loved Jimmy. He will always be remembered for his kind heart, generosity, charisma, chivalry, laughter and his smile. Jimmy will also be remembered for his love of Dunks medium hot regular and playing the lottery. Keno 2-4-6-8-10. We were all surprised when Puss in Boots took his last breath. One thing we know for sure is that “Jimmy the Legend” will live on in our hearts.
