CHICOPEE – Sok Sun (Choi) Chong, 79, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, November 23, 2023. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Chunan Choong Chung, South Korea on October 15, 1944, a beloved daughter of the late Sung Ma Choi and Soon Cha Kim. She was raised and educated in South Korea and immigrated to Chicopee in 1976. She was the co-owner of Merri Maid Laundromat in Springfield. She was a member of the Amherst Zion Church of the Nazarene. She leaves her beloved husband, Yang Hwa Chong; her two loving children, Sue Kim of Atlantic City, NJ and Yon Chol Chong of Chicopee; her four cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Stevens and her husband, Sean, and Sharon, Shannon and Brandon Kim; her cherished great grandson, Sebastian; her dear sister in law, Chong Sun Lawrence of Chicopee; her dear brother in law, Kon Hwa Chong and his wife, Jung Soon of New York; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon with a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The funeral home parking lot is located in the rear. Her Burial will be private at Fairview Cemetery in Chicopee.
