John (Jack) Callahan, 89, loving husband, father and grandfather, of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2023 at Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus.
Born to the late Thomas F. and Helen (McCarthy) Callahan on July 6, 1934. Jack was raised in South Boston and later settled in Medford where he raised his family before moving to Tewksbury where he enjoyed living for the last 27 years. He joined the United States Navy in 1956 and is a 65-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Catherine (Basile) Callahan, two sons, Ross Callahan and wife Dina of Tewksbury, and Craig Callahan and wife Cindy of Shrewsbury. He is also survived by his sister, Agnes Burlone and husband Fred of Halifax, and his beloved grandchildren: Jack, Sean, Ryan, Katelyn and Kyle, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Callahan and three sisters; Marie Belanger, Ann Dicicco and Joan Sablock.
Jack will be remembered for his generosity, humor and his love for his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of John J. A Funeral Mass for John Callahan will be held at St. William's Catholic Church, 1351 Main Street Tewksbury, MA at 10:00AM on Monday, November 27th followed by a burial at Tewksbury Cemetery.
