CHICOPEE – Stephen M. Joseph, 63, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, November 19, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Springfield on June 6, 1960, a beloved son of the late Victor M. Joseph who was Called Home on November 3, 2023 and Theresa A. (Moran) Joseph who was Called Home on June 27, 2002. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield and had lived in Chicopee for the past 25 years. He furthered his education and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Westfield State College in Westfield. An avid baseball player, he played for the Van Horn Ponies and was a standout pitcher and shortstop for Cathedral High School and the American Legion Post 430. He also was a starting pitcher for the Westfield State Owls for four years. He was employed as a Court Officer with the Hampden County Hall of Justice in Springfield. He was a communicant of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Springfield. During his leisure time, he enjoyed spending time at the family home at Misquamicut Beach, cheering on his New York Yankees and salmon fishing in Pulaski, NY. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving sister, Victoria T. Joseph who was Called Home on August 2, 2009. He leaves his loving partner, Eileen E. Sullivan of Springfield; and his many dear cousins, extended family members and friends. He will also be missed by his beloved canine companion, his dog Rudy. His relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 12 p.m. at the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
