Carmen M. Segarra, 73, of Worcester, died Monday, November 20th in UMass Memorial Hospital – University Campus. She leaves a son, Diego Rodriguez, Jr. of Worcester; her daughter, Maria Rodriguez of Worcester; a brother, Juan David Vega of California; a sister, Lucy Leaman of California; eight grandchildren, Joe Anthony Rodriguez which whom she raised like a son, Jalissa Rodriguez, Kendrick Ball, Jr., Analica Rodriguez, Jayceon Ball, Adrianna Rodriguez, Annabella Rodriguez, and James Rodriguez; three great grandchildren, Somaya Rodriguez, Jaquan Minton, and Kairo McCollum; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Alex Vega; a sister, Martha Vega; and a grandchild, Jaqueline Rodriguez.
She was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico the daughter of Jose Segarra and Maria Mendoza. Carmen was a social worker for many years and then became a homemaker. She loved cooking and listening to music. As a natural caregiver, Carmen loved spending time with her family and was always their number one supporter. She also was a dog lover and enjoyed playing with her dog, Remi. She was very loved and will be deeply missed.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 1st from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Her funeral service will begin at the conclusion of calling hours in the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is assisting the family with arrangements.
