Obituary

BOSTON: Loraine E. (Hurst) Allen, age 84, a lifelong resident of Boston, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
Born in Boston on July 30, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Albert A. and Mary (Finnerty) Hurst.
Mrs. Allen was raised in the West Roxbury area of Boston.
She attended West Roxbury schools and graduated from West Roxbury High School.
Prior to her retirement in 1981, she worked as a hostess at the Cloud Nine Club at Logan International Airport. Mrs. Allen previously worked as a hostess at several well known Boston clubs.
In her early years, she attended St. Theresa’s Church in West Roxbury, where she served as a teacher for the C.C.D. Program.
Most recently, she was a communicant of St. Stevens Church in Boston’s North End.
Mrs. Allen enjoyed socializing with her family and friends, traveling, attending shows at the Wang Theatre, reading and discussing politics.
She is survived by one daughter; Jacqueline M. McCarthy and her dear friend Daniel Silva of Tewksbury; four grandchildren; Paul F. McCarthy of Tewksbury, Lisa A. DeGregory and her husband Rick of Tyngsboro, Robert McCarthy and his wife Megan of Dracut and John D. McCarthy and his wife Brenda of Tewksbury; six great grandchildren; Krysta, John, Michael, Brooke, Nicole and Katelyn; one sister; Mary Hurst Krause of West Roxbury; her sister-in-law; Mary Frances Hurst of Tyngsboro; two nieces; Linda Nicastro and Deborah Meuse; two nephews; George and James Hurst and her many friends at the North End Senior Citizen Clubs.
Mrs. Allen was the sister of the late Albert J., George, Paul F. and James P. Hurst.
Calling hours Monday, July 3rd, 9-11 a.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, Followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Curt’s Pitch for ALS, c/o ALS Association., 75 McNeil Way, # 310, Dedham, MA 02026, www.als-ma.org, are requested.
