WEBSTER – Donald A. “Chick” Fiddes, 89, died peacefully Monday, November 20, 2023.
He leaves his wife of 65 years, Blanche A. (Nadeau)Fiddes; a daughter, Julie Hewey and her husband Lewis of Dudley; a son, Gregg Fiddes and his wife Xuyen of San Diego, CA; 4 grandchildren, Kristen Proulx, Kaylyn Pinto and her husband Robert, Justin Fiddes and his wife Lexi, and Alyssa Fiddes; 3 great-grandchildren, Bryce and Chase Proulx and Liliana Pinto. He was preceded in death by his sister Gloria Boggins.
He was born on September 23, 1934 in Webster, the son of James and Helen M. (Premond) Fiddes and graduated from Saint Louis High School in 1952. He earned an associate degree from Nichols College in 1954. He was a standout student and basketball player in his school days. He lived in Webster for many years, then moved to Venice, Florida for 20 years before returning here in 2016.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1954 to 1956.
Don worked for 40 years at Cranston Print Works Company in Webster in various roles, retiring in 1994.
Chick loved sports and was an avid Boston sports fan, especially the Celtics and the Red Sox. He had a green thumb and loved “just being outside.”
He and his wife had a wonderful, inseparable life together. He will always be remembered for his caring, kind heart. He cared for everyone and put others before himself, a quality he displayed all his life. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed. His memory, wit and sense of humor will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Services will be held privately. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street.
