Dolores M. (Crespim) Kessell, 93, of New Bedford passed away on Saturday November 18, 2023 at Coleman House Senior Care Residence in Northborough surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Nelson W. Kessell. They shared 29 years of marriage before his passing in 2005.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Americo C. and Mary (Vieira) Crespim. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School and Kinyon-Campbell Business School, where she perfected her secretarial skills.
As a teenager, Dolores worked at her family’s butcher shop on Water Street helping her father who was the butcher. She later worked at the Acushnet Electric Supply Company in Fairhaven and then for the Riverside County Superintendent of Schools in Riverside, California until her retirement in 1997.
Dolores was active participant in the Dartmouth Council on Aging programs. She enjoyed many hours of playing Bingo and attending functions there over the years. Going to yard sales and flea markets and attending summer festivals gave her much pleasure.
She is survived by her children, Debra A. Crompton, Roger J. Correia and his wife Jean, Gregg S. Correia and his wife Dinara, and Jay C. Correia and his wife Cheryl; her five grandchildren, Julianne, Erinn, Bailey, Kaia, and Cruz Correia; and her brother, Americo Crespim and his wife Eleanor.
She was the sister of the late George Crispim and his wife Lucille and Lucille Herring and her husband Gordon, and mother-in-law of the late Bruce Crompton who passed away on Monday November 20th.
The family would like to give thanks for the wonderful, compassionate, and tireless care that she received from the staff at the Coleman House.
