David M. O’Neill, 81, of Dartmouth passed away Friday November 17, 2023 at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was the husband of Cathryn A. (Skeffington) O’Neill; they had been married for 56 years.
Born in Taunton, the son of the late Harry T. and Veronica J. (McGrath) O’Neill, he lived in Dartmouth for most of his life.
For over 50 years, David was the sole proprietor of Intra City Supply Company and Superior Maintenance/Fire and Safety Equipment.
He was a graduate of Dartmouth High School, Class of 1959 and Northeastern University, Class of 1964, with a degree in Business and Marketing. After graduation, he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army stationed in Korea.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister for many years. He was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Cathryn; his children, Deborah Hale and her husband Christopher Hale, David O’Neill and his wife Aimee Curtis O’Neill, and Maureen O’Neill; and his grandchildren, A1C Brian Hale, US Air Force, Emily Hale, Matthew Hale, Elizabeth O’Neill, Allison O’Neill, Erin O’Neill, Jade O’Neill, Ava O’Neill, and PFC Sabrina Skeffington, US Army.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Cathryn O’Neill and his sister Marie Dupuis.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday November 25th at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth. Burial with military honors will follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
