Paul F. Leavitt, 93, of Abington, MA, passed away on November 19, 2023. He was born on November 1, 1930, in Melrose, MA, to the late Marshall and Rosella (Anderson) Leavitt.
He is survived by his son Scott and his wife Debbie of Brockton, MA, his son Bruce and his wife Lesley of Vallejo, CA, his daughter Janice of Sun City Center, FL, and his grandson Michael and his wife Aimee of Shrewsbury, MA., his brother John and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 64 years, Virginia E. (Gray) Leavitt, who passed away in 2018, his grandson Mark in 2008 and his brother William in 2023.
Paul was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was always there to lend a helping hand, and his generosity and kindness touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Paul graduated from Stetson High School in the class of 1948. After completing his education, he served in the Navy. Following being honorably discharged from the Navy, he pursued a career as a linotype operator for Bennett Publishing and Bowne Financial Printers until his retirement in 1992. Following his retirement, he worked part-time as a school custodian at Woodsdale Elementary School in Abington for 9 years.
In his free time, Paul indulged in his hobbies. He was an avid Red Sox fan and loved gardening and puttering around outside. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and recreational lobstering. He enjoyed watching professional and college football. His other hobbies included automotive repair and home remodeling.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours for Paul on Friday, November 24, from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paul’s memory may be made to the American Lung Association.
