Anthony Joseph Vento 96, born February 1, 1927 of Wollaston, MA passed peacefully in his beloved home on November 17, 2023.
Devoted husband of the late Mildred L Vento, 98 years old. He is survived by 5 children, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a loving sister Connie Corrado of South Boston, nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
Tony was raised in South Boston becoming a staple in the community, serving 5 generations of families at his barbershop in Andrew Square. He was very well loved and respected by all who knew him. Treating everyone with genuine kindness, love and loyalty he was always willing to help those in need.
Tony was also a professional jazz musician. Joining the USO during the Korean War for two tours, traveling the world performing for our US Troops. Upon his arrival home, he continued his music with his bands for many decades. He would often play his saxophone in his barber shop to his customers’ delight, creating such happiness. His smile could light up a dark room. His positivity was radiant. His dedication and love to his family was one of a kind. Working from the age of 10 years old to over 94 years old, being the pillar of strength. Mentoring us all by his exemplary life as a human being. Tony was unstoppable. He loved his music and his little barber shop. Enjoying conversations with his customers, whom he considered family, discussing serious worldly matters, family, life, politics, and yes, of course, the Patriots! Sharing in laughter and tears over the years while having tea and muffins from Dunkins together. Tony and his shop gave people happiness and hope when they were down. He knew everyone’s life story. Always encouraging his younger customers to “stay straight, work hard.” He truly cared. He had a heart of gold. They loved and respected him for it.
Tony was a humble man, a hero, a true gentleman. Having faith in God he was a blessing to his family and friends. Making the world a better place. To say he will be greatly missed is an understatement. Thank you, Dad, for giving all of yourself, so selflessly to your entire family, never asking for anything in return.
May God Bless you Dad. Until we meet again in Heaven, rest peacefully in Jesus’ arms. Amen.
You earned it.
We love you.
