Peggy Matyuf of Framingham, MA, formerly of Arlington, MA died on Nov. 18, 2023.
Only child of Thomas and Mary (Flaherty) Sheridan, Margaret was born on March 17, 1922 in Hartford, CT. Her two husbands predeceased her: Paul K. Gowern (d. 1949) and William B. Matyuf (d1996). She was the mother of Mary Gowern, csj of Watertown, MA and Paul G. Gowern (Nancy) of Manchester, N. H. and Meg Sweeney (Steven) of Alexandria, VA. Stepmother of the (late) Patricia Matyuf, William Matyuf of Atkinson, N.H. and Timothy Matyuf (Maureen) of Salem, NH. Peggy had four grandchildren and six step grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Peggy was devoted to God and family.
Peggy was a member of St Agnes Parish in Arlington, MA. for 50 years. During that time she taught First Communion Class for 25 years. As an active member of the Catholic Women’s Club of Arlington, Peggy served as its president from 1990-1992. She reached her life goal of living to 100+ years. On her 100 birthday Peggy said her goal now was “to bring happiness to all”.
Her wake will be at 10 am on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023 at St. Agnes Church, 32 Medford St. Arlington, MA followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 11am in the church. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, MA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Bethany Health Care Center, 97 Bethany Rd., Framingham, MA. 01702.
