Obituary

Charles W. “Charlie” Hewitt passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 15th at his Stoneham home. He was 85. Born in Boston and raised in Dedham, he was the son of the late Charles F. and the late Helen G. (Buckley) Hewitt.

Charlie was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He served in the U.S. Navy during the early years of the Vietnam War and was posted to Germany. A graduate of Northeastern University, Charlie went on to work for the Polaroid Corporation for 34 years, where he became a manager in the customer service division. He loved photography and he enjoyed bringing his family and friends up to date in the latest picture and video technology.

In his free time, besides taking pictures, he liked to play racketball, but it was golf that he loved. He loved reading and watching television, but it was time with family, either at home or traveling, which Charlie really enjoyed.

Charlie was the beloved husband of Lorraine (Grispi) Hewitt. He was a devoted father to Christopher Hewitt, Gregory Hewitt and his wife Lauren, Paula Massarelli and her husband Robert “Chip”, and his stepdaughter Jennifer Sullivan and her husband Christopher. He was a loving grandfather to Jennifer Lincoln, Hillary Connolly, Shannon Reynolds, Courtney Hewitt, Olivia Hewitt, Emily Massarelli, Bobby Massarelli, Jordyn Sullivan, and Grace Sullivan. He was a caring great grandfather to Berlyn Barkemeyer. He was a dear brother to Helen Scully, John Hewitt, the late Patricia Bouthiller and the late Margaret Paxton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Charlie’s name to the Pathways Hospice, 92 Montvale Ave., Suite 2100, Stoneham, MA 02180-3601 or to M&L Prodigy Health Care, 85 Tower Office Park, Woburn, MA 01801.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Sunday, November 26th from 2-6 PM.
