Obituary

Robert J. "Bob" Fitzpatrick, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at his daughter's home. He was 92 years of age.

Bob was born at home in Charlestown on March 30, 1931, a son of the late Edward Fitzpatrick and Helen (Manning) Fitzpatrick. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated throughout the Boston Public School system. Bob enlisted into the United States Army on March 3, 1954, and served his country with honor. He was honorably discharged on February 28, 1962, with the rank of Sergeant/Cook. Bob worked for Winde-McCormick Lumber Company in Charlestown/Wilmington as a Supervisor and retired following 35 years of dedicated employment. Bob also worked at the Boston Garden from 1965 to 1985 with the infamous Bull Gang. He was a member of The Halligan Club of Charlestown, The Old Charlestown Schoolboys Association, Bunker Hill Council # 62, Knights of Columbus and the Somerville American Legion Post. Above all else in Bob's life, he was always dedicated to his family, whether it be his parents or siblings to his wife, children and grandchildren, he was always there when he was needed.

Bob is the beloved husband of the late Ruth L. (Suckiel) Fitzpatrick. He is the devoted father of Edward J. "Eddie" Fitzpatrick and his wife Karen, Ruth Ann Hoffman and her husband John and Robert J. "Bobby" Fitzpatrick and his wife Roberta. He is the loving Papa to Eddie and his wife April, Theresa and her husband Tyler, Aidan, Sarah, Elizabeth, Ryan and his great-grandchildren Kailyn, Isabella, Olivia, Aria and Liam. He is the beloved brother of the late Helen Geno, Marion Hughes, Dorothy Pratt, Betty Gorsuch, Anne Fitzpatrick, Edward Fitzpatrick, William Fitzpatrick, John Fitzpatrick, Warren Fitzpatrick, Gerald Fitzpatrick, Francis Fitzpatrick, Joseph Fitzpatrick and Paul Fitzpatrick. He is the loving uncle to Charles Pratt, Thomas Pratt and his wife Janet, Debbie O'Neill, Michael Fitzpatrick and his many other loving nieces and nephews. He is also the loving Godfather to Christine Gover.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Nancy Johnson for her love, time and care along with the checker games she shared with Bob. Also, to Dr. William Schmitt of the Bunker Hill Health Center for his care and support to Bob.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bob's Funeral on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 10 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. His burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. His visiting hours will be on Monday, November 20, 2023, from 3 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
