Christine E. McCarthy 57

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Christine E. McCarthy, age 57, of Mansfield, formerly of Walpole and Roslindale, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.

Born in Boston, MA, Christine was predeceased by her parents, Joseph W, Jr and Barbara A (Lynch) McCarthy.

She is survived by her sister, Patty (McCarthy) Prior and her husband, Bill of Mansfield. She also leaves behind her niece and nephew Jennifer Prior and Kevin Prior, both of Mansfield.

She leaves behind many loving close friends, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Raised in Roslindale where she attended Holy Name School, 80. Then attended Mount Alvernia High School in Chestnut Hill, 84, and Massachusetts Bay Community College, 86 where She earned an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She furthered her education, taking classes at Framingham State College.

While in high school and college Christine worked part-time at the Stop & Shop in Chestnut Hill. After college, she worked as a preschool teacher at several private schools. In 1990 she switched careers and was employed at Amica Mutual Insurance Company in Wellesley, as a records clerk for over 10 years.

Christine was a huge local sports fan. Her favorite pastime was watching local sports teams play. She had many talks with her Aunt Ann over their shared love for her favorite team, the Boston Red Sox.

Christine had many hobbies including puzzles, word searches, adult coloring and making scrapbooks. She has made over 30 scrapbooks highlighting everything from important people, fun events or movies and television shows.

Her favorite TV series included Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons, Mash, SVU and Downton Abby.

She loved all things “Disney” with her favorite character being Donald Duck.

Chrissy enjoyed much time at the McCarthy family home in North Woodstock, NH. She had many fond memories of vacation time spent at her families home.

Chrissy was a wonderful aunt to her nephew and niece. This was a role she took very seriously.

Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday, November 20th from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

Her funeral will begin on Tuesday, November 21st at 9:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.

In lieu of flowers. Christine’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Boston Children’s Hospital, 300 Longwood Avenue, Boston, MA 02115.
