Anthony J. “Tony” Capraro of Boston’s North End passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Tuesday, November 14th. He was 77. Born and raised in the North End, he was the son of the late Vito and the late Jennie (Pizzano) Capraro. Anthony was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
He graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in the North End in 1963 and Boston College in 1967. Immediately after graduation Anthony went to work at the Internal Revenue Service, beginning what would become a 56-year career.
He lived most of his life in his beloved North End. He was a city kid at his very core and loved to be near his friends and extended family. He liked to sit and drink coffee with a good cigar and watch what was happening, and he noticed everything.
He was deeply devoted to his family—he loved his children and grandchildren without reservation or condition, and he made sure they knew it, always.
Anthony was the beloved father to Anthony V. Capraro and his wife Dawn of Stoneham, Mark Capraro and his wife Jessica of Austin, TX, Nora Capraro and her husband Tarik Mahrour of Needham, and Joanna Carry and her husband Adam of New Orleans, LA. With Noreen Capraro he was the proud grandparent of Anna, Giovannina, Dorothy, Minka, Brigid, Mateo, and Rocco. Anthony was the dear brother to Corinne Flanagan and her husband Brian of Winchester and the late Paula Capraro of Boston’s North End. He was the devoted companion of the late Janice Gallagher of Cotuit until her death.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, November 20th from 4 to 8 PM. Anthony’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home Tuesday, November 21st at 9 AM, followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in Saint Leonard's Church, 320 Hanover St., Boston’s North End at 10 AM.
