SOUTH HADLEY – Clement L. Blanchet, 90, of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Saint Charles de Bellechasse, Province of Quebec, Canada on August 16, 1933, a beloved son of the late Pamphile and Irma (Gosselin) Blanchet. He was raised in Canada, settled in Springfield in 1960, then lived in Chicopee for 30 years, before moving to South Hadley in 1996 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a self-employed finish carpenter and worked throughout Western Massachusetts. Clement was very skilled and talented and enjoyed working on cars in his spare time. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and many friends. He was a longtime communicant of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Pierrette A. (Turgeon) Blanchet. They were married on May 17, 1958 and were blessed with over 65 years of happiness together. He also leaves his six loving children, Michael Blanchet and his wife, Anne, of Granby, Nancy Hamel and her husband, Michael, of Chicopee, Lynda Hill and her husband, Alan, of Feeding Hills, Susan Blanchet of South Hadley, Cindy Skrabely and her husband, Frederick, of Chicopee, and Carol Micks and her husband, Donald, of Feeding Hills; his 10 cherished grandchildren; 10 cherished great grandchildren; his dear sister, Gaetane Aube and her husband, Gilles, of Westfield; his many dear living and deceased brothers and sisters in Canada; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. His funeral services and burial will be private. There are no visiting hours.
