Donald O. Wilson, age 93, of Andover passed away on Monday, November 13th, in Winchester Hospital. Born and raised in Nashville, GA, he was the son of the late John and Alene (Vining) Wilson. Donald proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War. After leaving the military he remained in the Boston area where he worked for many years as a meat cutter.
Donald met his wife Virginia (Luongo) Wilson while his navy ship was docked in Boston. It was love at first sight. They married and settled in Medford, MA where they raised their two sons and were married for 70 years. Donald and Virginia valued their family and friends, enjoyed weekly Sunday dinners, large holiday gatherings and frequent travel, including trips to some of their favorite places such as: Italy, St. John, Alaska and Hawaii, but most importantly visits to Donald’s family in Nashville, Georgia. Donald was a kind, patient, giving man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Donald was the devoted father of Donald S. Wilson, Jr. and his wife Jane of Tewksbury, MA, and Richard Wilson and his wife Laurie of Andover, MA. He was the loving grandfather of Marianne Wilkinson and her husband Tim, and Caitlin Shepard and her husband Bobby, all of Nashua, NH, Kerry Heher and her husband Curtis of Bedford, NH, Richard Wilson, Jr. and his wife Alexis of Salem, NH, Brian Wilson of Philadelphia, PA, Kristen Chapman and her husband Zack of Haverhill, MA and Jared Wilson of Andover, MA. Donald was the adoring great grandfather of Wyatt, Jake, Bennett, Harper, Summer, Hayden, Hadley and Sophie. He was the dear brother of Bill Wilson and his wife Jeanette of Orange, TX, and the late Edwin and Johnny Wilson of GA and FL, respectively. He is also survived by many more loving family and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours with family on Sunday, November 19th, from 2 - 6 PM at Dello Russo Funeral Home at 306 Main St., Medford, MA. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 20th at 9 AM at Dello Russo Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, MA at 10 AM. Funeral services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford, MA.
