Hilton Phillip Burgess, 76, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Ronnie Cone officiating. Mr. Burgess will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 17, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Logan Manning, Shane Scott, Lee Burgess, Rodney Nix, Michael Nix and Timmy Butler will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Carrington, Ed Brown, Randy Overton and Terry Butler.
Born May 4, 1947, in Worth County, Mr. Burgess was the son of the late Lonnie Emmett Burgess and Alberta Frances Parker Burgess. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Gordon Lee Burgess, Sr., Grady Burgess and John Burgess; and one sister and her husband, Lucille and Ray Mathews; and a brother-in-law, the Rev. John Cone. Before retiring, he was a self-employed electrician and entrepreneur. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Tifton.
Mr. Burgess is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Parrish Burgess of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Casey and Clay Darley of Thomasville; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy D. and Nell Burgess of Tifton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Latrelle Cone of Tifton and Sherry and Rob Worth of Eustis, Florida; and three grandchildren, Jackson Rackley, Hollyn Darley and Chase Darley.
