CHICOPEE – Jeannette S. (Biron) Provost, 92, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, November 12, 2023. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her dedicated and loving family. She was born at home in Chicopee on February 11, 1931, a beloved daughter of the late Alexandre and Florence (Dalbec) Biron. She was raised in Chicopee, received a bilingual education at Saint Joan of Arc School in Chicopee, graduated from Holy Rosary High School in Holyoke in 1945 and had lived in Chicopee her entire life. She was employed for the City of Chicopee in the Chicopee Public Schools Food Service Department as a cook for 23 years. A devout Catholic, she was a lifelong parishioner of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She was a devoted homemaker to her husband and children. On weekends or holidays, Jeannette enjoyed gathering with family over a cup of tea or to play cards. With a sharp mind, she was able to pinpoint every rule, value, turn and mistake until her very last hand of cards in September. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward G. Provost who was Called Home on August 16, 2009. They were married on May 15, 1954 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church and were blessed with over 55 years of happiness together. She leaves her five faithful children, Roland Provost, Rosemarie Sullivan and her husband, Thomas, Dennis Provost and his wife, Denise, Larry Provost and his wife, Adele, and Douglas Provost and his wife, Christine, all of Chicopee; her loving 21 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; her dear brother in law, Richard Provost; her two dear sisters in law, Noella Dame and Gloria Anderson; her two dear cousins, Leo Dalbec and Corinne Trottier; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. Her family would like to thank her longtime loyal caretaker, Wanda Miller for treating Jeannette with patience and kindness every day for the past three years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her two loving sons, Rene Provost and Gary Provost and his wife, Mary; and her dear sister, Claire Frederick. Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. prior to her Mass. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
