GILFORD ---- Peter G. Genova passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023, holding the hand of his best friend and wife of 59 years, Cecile “Toots” Genova.
Born in Newton, Massachusetts on April 5, 1944, to Grace and Fi Peter Genova. Eventually the family relocated to New Hampshire where he met his wife “Toots” at the Weeks Dairy Bar and Restaurant.
Dedicated to his job at UPS for 38 years, making his rounds in brown, delivering packages to the community and the early morning Manchester Airport run he interacted with many people with a big smile. Peter worked hard and played plenty. In his younger years Pete enjoyed playing hockey and was part of a semi-professional hockey team called The Lakers. His recent interests included boating on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee, golf, skiing, dancing with Toots, and especially tennis were his mainstays. Pete always took pride in the court while playing, maintaining, or commentating from the deck with a fine beverage. So many memories with friends and family took place at the Genova home.
Peter’s truest dedication was to his family. He leaves behind his wife Cecile “Toots” Genova, 2 daughters, Christine Dikdan and Donna Akerley, 2 sons-in-law, Mark Gravel and Tom Akerley, and the biggest smiles for his grandson’s Ryan Dikdan and Devin Akerley, along with many other extended and loved family and friends.
Peter was a staple in the lives he touched and will surely be missed beyond belief by all.
The Family would like to extend a big thank you to Concord Hospital - Laconia for making a tough situation respectful and peaceful and to Golden View Health Care Center for their friendly and caring professionalism. We would also like to thank the friends and family circle for their unending love and support and prayers.
The service for Peter will be private with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later time.
