James R. Flanagan, 84, of Sandown, NH, slipped his earthly bonds and was reunited with his loved ones in heaven Monday November 13, 2023 in the Derry Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Derry, NH. He was born on August 16, 1939 in Lawrence, MA, a son of the late William and Dorothy (Hart) Flanagan. James had been a resident of Sandown for the past 10 years, formerly living in Waterville Valley, NH and Salem, NH. James was an Air Force SAC veteran serving from 1957 - 1961. He had been employed at Textron Systems in Wilmington, MA for many years. James enjoyed model airplanes, traveling and trips to the casinos.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia "Tish" Stoner and her husband Ron of Sandown; his son, Richard Flanagan and his companion Samantha DuBreuil of Stoddard, NH; as well as three grandchildren, Cara and her husband Eric, James and his wife Joyce, and Shelby and her husband Nate. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia A. “Pat” Flanagan, and his son, John Flanagan.
Following cremation, the family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry and Londonderry are assisting the family with arrangements.
