John K. Munies, age 83, of Plymouth, formerly of Brockton, died November 10, 2023, at the Beth Israel Deaconess in Plymouth, after a period of failing health. John was the devoted husband of Nancy B. (Stiles) Munies.
John was born in Plymouth and raised in Brockton, a son of the late Philip and Martha (Shaw) Munies and was a 1958 graduate of Brockton High School where he was a member of the track team. After graduation John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served for 6 years.
John was Executive Director of Education, Inc. and previously worked as a nursing home executive. He will be remembered as a kind man who tried to help anyone in need and, more importantly, as a good husband and father. He has passed along a legacy of always putting his family first.
John was a member of the Middleboro and Brockton Elks Club and enjoyed boating and Marine Corp comraderie.
John was the father of John K. P. Munies II of Virginia, Angela B. Marte of Billerica, Kenneth S. Munies of Plymouth and the late Michael T. Munies. He also leaves two daughters-in-law Julianne and Michelle, and a son-in-law Eury. In addition, John had 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and was a brother of Russell Munies of Middleboro and the late James Munies and Nancy Whitley.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) from 9-11am followed by a Service at 11am. Burial at Calvary Cemetery.
